About Our Program

Brivali Poodles is a small, home-based breeder of AKC standard poodles located in northern Florida.  Our poodles live in the home with us and are our family pets.  With each planned breeding, we work to improve with the next generation, focusing on health, conformation, and temperament.  We show our poodles in the AKC conformation ring, but believing in the importance of having versatile dogs, we also train them in agility, rally, and nose work.  Some of our poodles have also made excellent service dogs and therapy dogs.  Most importantly, we aim to raise poodles that are confident, happy family pets because we consider all of our poodles family members, first and foremost.

As with our adults, our poodle puppies are also raised in our home.  We follow both Puppy Culture and Avidog practices.  We do early neurological stimulation (ENS).  We introduce our puppies to the grooming process early--with first nail trims around three days old and we trim them every 2-3 days thereafter.  Puppies get their first feet shave at two weeks old and their face shaved around three weeks old.  By week four, we start our routine of weekly baths and blow dries. Also, around four weeks of age, we begin foundational clicker training.  Around six weeks of age, we get puppies started on house breaking and crate training.  We follow these protocols because we believe that early socialization, desensitization, and training are paramount to raising a confident, well-rounded puppies.  We start this process at a young age, with age-appropriate progression, to ensure that each puppy gets the best start possible.

Moreover, we believe setting up each puppy for the best life possible starts before they're born by thoroughly screening their dam and sire for health conditions.  Thus, consistent with The Poodle Club of America
's recommendations, we conduct pre-breeding health clearances on all of our poodles.  The test results are listed on our website under each dog, and this information may be verified on OFA's website.

We also strive to breed poodles that conform to The Poodle Club of America's breed standards.  This means we do not support the cross-breeding of poodles with other breeds, nor do we support cross-breeding to create "merle poodles."

We welcome inquiries for pet/companion, performance, and show homes.  All puppies will be pre-registered with the AKC.  Unless sold as a show prospect, puppies will be AKC registered with "limited" papers.  This will allow you and your puppy to compete and participate in all AKC events except conformation.  "Full registration" is available for show prospects to approved homes.  Puppies will be up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, and microchipped.  We typically have apricot, red, cream, white, and black puppies available.  If you are interested in a puppy from a future litter, you can fill out an application to be placed on a wait list.

Brivali's Beginnings

Jennifer is the heart and soul behind Brivali Poodles.  Her love of poodles began as a young child, growing up with poodles.  Her early years are filled with memories of sweet little Bambi, a black toy poodle.  When she was older and wanted "her own" dog, there was no question that it was going to be a poodle.  The only question was which variety.  Ultimately, she decided on a standard--the largest of the poodles--and one that might be up for a bit more rough-housing and who might have more stamina.

That is how Bridgett Valentine entered her life--the most amazing dog a child could have ever asked for.  She was the ideal family pet--a child's best friend.  Bridgett went just about everywhere with her--attending sporting events, daily outings, and family vacations.  She loved car rides, and was always down for one--whether it was a quick errand around the block or a cross-country road trip (there were quite a few of those!).

Bridgett was by her side through my youth and into her young adult years... in some ways Bridgett helped raise her.  Having Bridgett showed her not only the power of a bond between a dog and her human, but also the importance that role can play during such a formative period in a child or young adult's life.  This is has become part of her driving force in deciding to breed poodles--to help bring to others the joy that Bridgett brought to her by matching people with their ideal puppy.  Brivali, a portmanteau of Bridgett and Valentine, is named in her memory.
